About the Multi-Cultural Heritage Association The Okmulgee County Multi-Cultural Heritage Association was formed in 1998 by a group of Okmulgee citizens dedicated to saving the former Black Hospital on Wood Drive and Third Street. The goal of the Multi-Cultural Association and Cultural Center Members is to rehabilitate the historic Black Hospital in Okmulgee and turn it into a dynamic, first-class historical cultural center. The Okmulgee Black Hospital Cultural Center will showcase the important and vital history of the Black Hospital, the medical personnel who worked at the Hospital, the history of African Americans in Okmulgee County, and much more. The Okmulgee Black Hospital Cultural Center will offer a variety of exciting programs, activities, and special exhibits annually to educate visitors and residents in Okmulgee County on the significant contributions of African Americans in the County, in the State of Oklahoma, and beyond.
Mission The mission of the Okmulgee Black Hospital Cultural Center is to unite the community through awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity and heritage in Okmulgee County.
Programs and Plans The Okmulgee Black Hospital Cultural Center will be offering a variety of exciting and informative programs for both young and old that will educate the public on the history of the Black Hospital in Okmulgee County, the history of the medical personnel that worked at the Hospital, and African-American culture and history.
